I’ve learnt that Maeve Cannon is very protective over her food (especially her pancakes)!

If i could be someone else on the team for a day, i’d be our physio Emma, because i wish i had
calves like her!

I would be Abby because I would like to experience what playing a point guard position is like and
she is so quick that I would like to see what running 100 m/ph is like.

I would switch places with Karl so I could make him run twice the amount of burpee suicides he’s

I would like to be Maeve Coleman, our Head coach and gain a better understanding of the
difficulties and pressures she endures of coaching 12 crazy teenage girls while doing everything she
can for us to reach our full potential both as a player and personally.

I would choose to be the coach for a day because I could get to watch everyone else run “burpeesuicides”
and I wouldn’t have to do them.


Annemarie Whelan

Favourite Irish Sports Person/People:
The 36 players on our U15 Development Squad and now the final 12. It has been an amazing 2
year programme where we have made some fantastic memories and friends that will last forever.
Favourite Basketball Memory:
Watching my daughter, Sarah play for Ireland and Wildcats and my daughter Katie play u12 and
u13 for Wildcats and winning the Cork Cup this year.
Seeing all 36 players on our squad, representing their country and getting their first caps.
Fun fact you’ve learned about someone else on the team:
Coach Karl loves to take selfies…EVERYWHERE.
After all our trips away together, myself and Maeve share the same favourite male Spanish coach
(I mean trip) – Girona.Handsome Spanish coach
If you could be someone else on the team for a day, who would it be and why?:
I’d like to be Ella McCloskey or Maeve Cannon as i’d love to be tall and play in the post.

I’ve learned that if you scare a certain member of the management team as they are peering off
the side of an extremely high bridge they will get such a fright, they’ll literally pee themselves in
public… (Naming no names…)
I’ve learned that Mark’s 3 favourite artists are Nathan Carter, Lady Gaga and Megadeath (A weird
mix for a weird guy)
I’ve learned that Maeve has peed more in the last 2 years than most people do in 2 lifetimes.
If you could be someone else on the team for a day, who would it be and why?:
I would 100% be one of the players (Except Annaliese obviously, as i just couldn’t take being from
Glanmire … ) Given how excited i am for our first game on August 5th, i cant even imagine how
excited the payers must feel. I’d also get to show them that ‘burpee suicides’ are nowhere near as
hard as they all pretend they are…

I have learned to ban super-league conversations between management staff so I don’t have to

I’d be one of the players, getting to play against Finland in Game 1 on August 5th.

You don’t need to be in anyway good at basketball to be a good basketball coach, case in point
Karl Kilbride!
If you could be someone else on the team for a day, who would it be and why?:
I’d like to be either the physio Emma (physios get to put the players through as much pain as they
want and afterwards the players are grateful and thank them for it) or Karl ( As i cant in any way
dance and to be fair to him and without sounding weird, Karl’s actually a really good dancer. I also
keep him awake at night when we share a room as i snore a lot. So it would be nice to be in his
position so i could actually hear myself snoring for once)
